finished 32-bit command line for Windows 7 install to vhd, now finishing up the 64-bit. I will update in this forum. It won't take long.

I am sorry about these delays, but it will be much fewer support problems after this.

Thanks for the update.

No apologies necessary. You are tackling a tough project that few are capable of. We eagerly await the results. I suggest you leave town with the wife (and without your computer or smart phone) for a few days when you are done. You (and she) will deserve it!!

There is no need to re-invent the wheel. Most of this work has already been done at www.boot-land.net.

As a matter of fact there are two open source projects at boot-land which are capable of booting XP off a File-disk:

Firadisk: www.boot-land.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=8804

and

WinVBlock: www.boot-land.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=8168

My biggest issue with these projects(at least the boot loader aspect) is their inability to boot non-contiguous file-disk. They both use grub4dos to map the diskimage and as is well known grub4dos cannot map non-contiguous disk. Vboot should be able to capitalize on these open source projects and improve on any their shortcomings.
