My android is connected to a secure company network. This means encrypted filesystem and locked device, no root.

If I want to install services that need extra permissions, I can boot into TWRP recovery mode and move apk files from /data/app to /system/app.

I tried this with VMLite VNC Server but it didn't work.

Could this be something that you support in the future. I have a google Nexus 4 running Android 4.3. The phone hangs at least once a week, sometimes every day. So a solution that requires me to connect to USB, enable debug mode etc to start a service is a bit painful. I would prefer to have the option to simply add this as a system app and be done with it (and I don't mind doing upgrades manually by booting into recovery).

Hi Marc,

very sorry about this late response, as I just got a rooted device that can remount.

I tried this way:

adb remount
adb push VMLiteVNCServer.apk /system/app

and it works just fine. Can you check if you have /data/data/com.vmlite.vncserver/files folder?

what was the error message you got?
