I couldn't get the server to start on my mac. I have the device plugged in, usb turned on and in usb camera mode. Here is output from the mac app controller. I', running 4.3. It shows the device as attached, just not connected. Any ideas?

Please disconnect your device and reconnect it, then press the above Start VMLite VNC Server button again.

Can you check if your device displays a confirmation message to allow the USB connection? you need to authorize it by clicking OK.

I am also not able to get it to start on my Mac (2012 Air, Lion). Like twilly, I have the Nexus 7 (new version) in Developer Mode, USB debugging enabled, stay awake. All other developer options are default. It is set "Connected as a camera".

When I plug in the Nexus to my USB port, iPhoto appears on the Mac. New items:
    USB debugging connected
    Connected as a camera

Appear in the notifications area on the Nexus. Clicking Start VMLite VNC Server on the Mac displays:

Starting VMLite VNC Server on device...
Checking Android devices...
List of devices attached
06d71ece offline

Error: no android device is connected.
Please disconnect your device and reconnect it, then press the above Start VMLite VNC Server button again.

There is no dialog to confirm the USB connection shown.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,
Frank

I seem to be affected by this as well.

Nexus 4 running 4.3 connected to Mac. When I click on 'Start VMLite VNC Server' I see my device recognised, but the server does not start on the phone and the Mac app hangs with what I call 'the spinning pizza of doom'. I've tried it with both MTP and PTP.

Is there any news - good or bad - on this as I use it regularly for demos.

Thanks, Simon

yes, we have the build ready internally. doing more tests now, and will try to post today or tomorrow, the latest.

Sorry about this issue. For the time being, you can run commands using Terminal:

adb shell "am start -a android.intent.action.MAIN -n com.vmlite.vncserver/.MainActivity"
adb shell /data/data/com.vmlite.vncserver/files/vmlitevncserver
