Hello, Rockers!

I've been using VMLite Server for at least six months, unrooted. Wonderful, exciting, a must see! I honestly could not believe my own eyes, because the last product that gave me such great results, I had to root my Atrix 4G in order for it work.

Almost a month ago, I upgraded the OS to 4.4.2 and, though the upgrade fixed a lot of other annoyances, VMLite Server hasn't worked since then. I have tried:

o Completely uninstalling, then reinstalling both the App Controller on the PC and the Server on the phone
o Upgrading the drivers on both the ADB Interface and the Portable Device stanzas, on the PC
o Switching from MTP to PTP and back again on the phone
o Unchecking and Revoking Debugging Authorization, then checking and reauthorizing Debugging
o Unplugging the plugging in the USB cable after each and every change
o Rebooting both the PC and the phone after every change

Now what do I do?!?

I'd rather not root my Galaxy, since I hard-bricked (that's correct, Hard-Bricked) my Atrix II. I never wanted to root my 4G, but it was the only way I could get that other VNC server to work.

Please advise . . . Thanks*

no, no need to root it !

It should work. the problem is that Samsung has disabled the execution permission in our current version's install folder. You need to copy it to somewhere before our fix:

you can also do this using adb.

cd "C:\Program Files (x86)\VMLite\AndroidAppController"
adb shell
cd /data/data/com.vmlite.vncserver/files
./vmlitevncserver

do you get execution permission error?

if so, copy the file to /data/local/tmp, e.g.,

cd /data/local/tmp
cp /data/data/com.vmlite.vncserver/files/vmlitevncserver
./vmlitevncserver

Okay, so, I did:

cd /data/data/com.vmlite.vncserver/files
./vmlitevncserver

Got the execution permission error. Then I did:

cd /data/local/tmp
cp /data/data/com.vmlite.vncserver/files/vmlitevncserver
./vmlitevncserver

And I got:

connect to gui, resort udp method:: Connection refused
connect to gui, resort udp method:: Connection refused

But then I did:

./vmlitevncserver

Again, and this time I got:

connect to gui, resort udp method:: Permission denied
connect to gui, resort udp method:: Permission denied
12/03/2014 22:49:07 Listening for VNC connections on TCP port 5901
12/03/2014 22:49:07 Listening for VNC connections on TCP6 port 5901
12/03/2014 22:49:07 Listening for HTTP connections on TCP port 5801
12/03/2014 22:49:07 URL localhost:5801
12/03/2014 22:49:07 Listening for HTTP connections on TCP6 port 5801
12/03/2014 22:49:07 URL localhost:5801
connect to gui, resort udp method:: Permission denied

Then, it worked once, but I had to stop the server, because the screen scaling was all wrong. However, when I tried to start the server again, it went back to asking me to connect to a PC . . . sorry . . .

So . . . ???

Please advise . . . Thanks*

you need to re-start the daemon from adb:

adb shell "/data/local/tmp/vmlitevncserver"

press control-c to break out.

We will upload a new version of Android app controller tomorrow to fix this issue.

Hello, saw your reply to my Playstore comment and followed your link to this forum. I'm running VMLite VNC Server on two 4.4.2 devices (TF101 with KatKiss and P3113 with CM11) - in both cases when I launch the app I get prompted to connect to the PC. App worked fine on previous Android releases. Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks, Douglas Dyghton
