oh, that's why. THANKS for this impotant info.

I got exactly same error from vbox, this is vbox's bug. I will inform the developers of vbox. You need to find a native windows.

You can use Linux to start vmlite vnc server. download Android SDK to your linux, then run this command:

adb shell /data/data/com.vmlite.vncserver/vmlitevncserver

you need to add some usb ids to your linux system files, refer to android documentations.

I can upload the linux adb binary here. I assume it's Linux 64-bit?

Sweet. From Linux is always preferred. (I don't like Windoze).
Yes, it's 64-bit Xubuntu 12.04.
Please upload the binaries, or .deb.
Much appreciated.

A little bit extra on how to get this running would also be helpful. I'm just installing the android sdk now.

Thanks.

only need to install platform tools, where adb resides. No need to download those large system images.

run "lsusb" to identify the id of your S3.

source.android.com/source/initializing.html

read Configuring USB Access

then run:
adb devices
adb shell /data/data/com.vmlite.vncserver/vmlitevncserver

I'm getting an error:

andreas@xubah2012:~/android-sdk-linux/platform-tools$ ./adb shell /data/data/com.vmlite.vncserver/vmlitevncserver
/system/bin/sh: /data/data/com.vmlite.vncserver/vmlitevncserver: not found
